NRTC NAVEDTRA Navy Instructional Theory (14300A) ASN 3 Practice Exam

The most commonly used method for teaching skill-type subjects is demonstration. This approach is effective because it allows instructors to show students how to perform a skill step-by-step, providing a clear model to follow. Demonstration is particularly beneficial for skills that require physical actions, as students can observe the correct techniques in real time and understand the application of theoretical knowledge in a practical context.

During a demonstration, learners have the opportunity to see the nuances of skill execution, including techniques, movements, and best practices that may not be easily conveyed through verbal instructions alone. This method also facilitates immediate feedback, as instructors can clarify any misunderstandings or correct techniques on the spot, enhancing the learning experience for students. By witnessing the skill being performed, students are better prepared to attempt it themselves, leading to improved retention and competence.

While workshops and simulations can also be useful in teaching skills, demonstrations remain the foundational method that effectively integrates visualization with hands-on practice.
